Vakrasana(Twist Posture)
Vakra means twist. In the final position of the posture , the body will be in a twisted position.
Sthiti: Sit with legs stretched , heels together , palms pressing on the floor by the side of the buttocks.
1. Bend the right leg at the knee and place the right foot by the side of the left knee.
2. Twist the body towards the right side and take the left hand over the right knee and catch the right big toe. Place the right hand behind the trunk and keep the right palm on the floor and look towards the right side
3. Release the left hand(unfold the left hand) and keep it by the left side on the floor.
4. Unfold the right leg and keep it by the side of the left leg, i.e, the Sthit.
Benefits of Vakrasana(Twist Posture):
Lateral twist obtained, tones stretches, the entire spine. Enhances lowers back’s flexibility. Maintains health of the spinal nerves, Massages spleen, liver, pancreas, intestines and bladder. Activates the gonads. Enhances secretion of pancreatic juice and adrenalin.
Removes laziness and helps to attain the state of Yogi Matysendra.
Caution: Hernia patients should avoid.

Mode of bending:
In the final position the trunk should be straight.
Mode of breathing:
Breathe out whenever you bend downwards, twist and inhale while coming up. Normal breathing in the final position.
